Barry Wheelock has always enjoyed nature and the countryside and over time has become increasingly fascinated and passionate about filming wild deer. On his walks he often films other wildlife and, in addition to deer, he has built up an extensive digital film archive of foxes, badgers, hares, buzzards, owls, trout and woodpeckers etc and river scenes of chalk streams and mountain rivers, flowers and fauna and trees and clouds and sunsets and sunrises etc.
His new DVD “Wild Deer Watching” has been well received and Barry has been interviewed on Saga Radio and BBC Coventry & Warwick and excerpts have been seen on the BBC’s Community TV channel.
His work was first featured on ITV’s long-running programme ‘Heart of the Country’ where Tony Francis talked to him about his investment background and filmed him whilst out looking for deer and ended with him cooking a late breakfast of bacon, sausage, mushrooms and onions on an open fire in a wood for the film director and his crew. The programme used a lot of Barry’s footage of deer, badgers, hares, buzzards, trout, owls, and foxes. |
